IMPORTANT INFORMATION These packages are built inside a chroot environment, so they should work on any Red Hat 7.3 system. Please note that Ogg and Vorbis are system libraries and as such get used by a lot of programs. The packages depending on it will take time to get upgraded. If at this time you have RPM's installed for any of these packages (examples are xmms, GStreamer, tuxracer, xine, among others), these Ogg Vorbis RPM's might not be installable. There is nothing wrong with either Ogg Vorbis or the packages, it's just the way things work. The ABI for some of the libraries has changed since rc3. Your choices at this point are : a) wait until your distribution has updated your RPM's that use Ogg Vorbis b) uninstall the RPM's in question, install the Ogg Vorbis RPM's, and rebuild the source RPM's for the packages you want to have c) install Ogg Vorbis from source in a different prefix. LIBAO INFORMATION libao includes plug-ins for esd, oss, arts, and alsa (0.9). You can find RPM's for alsa on the GStreamer apt repository, http://gstreamer.net/releases/redhat/ Let us know if they work for you ;) Some people have reported an issue with OSS and mpg321 using the 0.8.3 version. For some reason, mpg321 doesn't autodetect OSS. It seems to be a bug in mpg321, you can force the oss driver using the -o option. ogg123 does work as expected.
